We had an early birthday celebration for Jared when we were in Utah last week. 9 candles turned out to be one to many this year, (poor Jared) it took him 3 tries to get the last candle blown out.
Watching Jared read the card from my mom and dad was the highlight of the night. On the front was a bobble head monkey that said something like "hope your birthday is a barrel full of monkeys". He thought it was hilarious, so he started laughing. Then he opened the card and ....
the card started making all kinds of monkey sounds, he stopped laughing and made a face that was so funny, we all couldn't help but laugh.
Back at home on Jared's real birthday he wanted a giant cookie instead of a cake (just like Elizabeth). Here's Jared with his giant chocolate chip cookie.
Again he couldn't get all the candles blown out in one try. Maybe next year I'll have to put them closer together.
After eating some cookie we headed over to Disneyland. During 2009 you can go to Disneyland free on your birthday and if you already have an annual pass you get a gift card for $60 to use toward merchandise inside the park. Jared picked a 2 deck set of Disney Star Wars cards, and a 3 in 1 Pirates of the Caribbean game set (checkers, chess and dice). We had a great time...and no throw up this time. Too bad Shane had to miss out (he was still in Baltimore).

I have to giggle about the candle thing. That's always a struggle at my house too.
I love the cookie! You're brave. I can't imagine trying to bake that monster!
