Some Silly Things

Jared cut his thumb with his pocket knife the other day, and of course we were out of medical tape so Shane duck-taped a bandage for him. Jared said, "mom....you've got to take a picture and put it on the blog".

Jake discovered something new the other day.....the toilet. YUCK!

Little Corona Del Mar

The past few days have been filled with crazy adventures. We had a visit from my family (mom, dad, Robert & Elizabeth). They are on spring break this week, so they came to visit for a few days. My mom had asked me to take some pictures of Robert at the beach(for his graduation announcements). We went to Little Corona Del Mar and had a lot of fun.

Jared loves to have pictures of him jumping. There was a great rock ledge, so I had him jump-pose. Everyone else wanted in on the action too.

Dad's jump was the ultimate! (you have to click on the pic to get a closer look at his face and hair) He ended up off balance on his landing and as luck would have it, a big wave came at that very moment and he fell into the water. It was one of those moments where you feel really bad, but can't stop laughing. He was a great sport about it though!

Fairy Tales

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess with a magic flute. She used her flute to turn a boy (Robert) into a frog. Then the frog, being a very clever frog, jumped up and kissed the princess and turned himself into a prince...

then along came another younger prince (Roscoe) who loved to dance. The prince and the princess turned and twirled until ...

the princess noticed her frog prince watching. So she told the young prince she could only dance with "her prince" because he kissed her. So...the princess danced with her frog prince....and the young prince.....

cried!

Disneyland

Thursday night we took the kids to Disneyland... it didn't turn out to be the adventure we hoped for. We got a late start, we hit traffic, the park was crowded, then we went on the Matterhorn and Serenity got "dizzy". Shane and I thought she was joking around when she got off the ride and couldn't walk straight and said, "I'm dizzy". A few minutes later she threw-up down Shane's back! So we called it a night and went home.

I'm watching....I'm always watching!

Here's an update on the sticky eyeball. (here's a link to the original post, if you missed it) http://brunsonfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2008/10/darn-those-sicky-eyeballs.html

It's still there....watching!

"I'm just pre-kidding"

Today while Serenity and I were in the car.

Serenity: I'm hungry. I'm really, really hungry.
Jessica: We're on our way home, I will make you some lunch in a few minutes when we get back.
Serenity: Well....can I have some gum then?
Jessica: No.
Serenity: Why?
Jessica: Your going to eat lunch in a few minutes when we get home.
Serenity: I don't want any lunch, I'm not hungry....I just want gum.
Jessica: You told me you were hungry.
Serenity: I was just pre-kidding!

Pre-kidding = pretending + kidding (just in case you didn't know)

Darn those sicky eyeballs!

Jared brought home a sticky eyeball from somewhere on Wednesday. I HATE sticky toys.... Naturally the eyeball goes missing somewhere in the entry-way. Jared told Shane it was stuck on the window, so after Jared left for school Shane stacked up some furniture to reach the entry-way window. It was no where to be found. Lucky for us, my kids are great tattlers. Serenity let us know she saw Jared throw the eyeball and knew right where it was...on the ceiling, of coarse! The ceiling is over 17 feet tall in the entry-way so Shane's brilliant idea was to stand on the stairs on throw dog toys at the ceiling and try and knock it down. At first I thought this was a bad idea, but then when the chandelier started to sway I thought, wow....I hope he ends up breaking that ugly chandelier so I can get a new one. No such luck! Shane ended up getting the pool net instead. That didn't work either, though. It was stuck tight.....this is definitely the stickiest, sticky toy ever! Shane gave up and it's still there.

Please, no more Science Experiments

Jared has been doing a lot of home "science experiments" lately...aka taking Shane's chemist beaker and filling it with all different kinds of things from around the house and mixing them together to see what it will turn into. Usually he mixes things like soap, shampoo, dirt, etc.

Last night Serenity snuck out of bed, we found her in the bathroom. She said she was doing "science experiments". Here was her experiment:

Put toilet paper down the sink.
Sqeeze out all the toothpaste into the squirt bottle and spray it all over the mirror.
Turn the sink on and drench yourself with water.
Squirt soap into brother's mouthwash then in the sink and all over the counter.
Lastly, she needed to make sure she looked her best when she got caught, so she took all her hair clips and put them in her hair, she also put something else in her hair that made it all crispy and sticky, but I'm not sure what it was.

Notice in the picture: the container that holds her hair bows says, "you make my heart smile"... I would have to say that finding the bathroom sink clogged with toilet paper did not make my heart smile.
I couldn't help but laugh when I saw Serenity sharing her sucker with Charley.....one lick for you, one lick for me, one for you, and one for me.

Suckers

Happy "Wind"sday!

How do you know when it's "Wind"sday?

You definitely know it's windsday when.....

it's trash day and you go out to the curb to bring up the trash can and its not there. So you start walking down the road and you find it across the street, up on the neighbor's front lawn five houses down the road, then...

on your way back you see someone's mail box sitting under a tree, and when you look closer you notice it is your mailbox 3 houses away!
.
This is our mailbox, there are supposed to be 4 mailboxes, I never found the 4th.

Look at the poor flag, its all mangled and barely holding on.

Hello Goodbye

Hello-Goodbye.....that's been Shane's work theme song lately. It was nice to have him home last week. Today he's back to Baltimore for a week and a half.

Hi dad

We're so glad when daddy comes home!
We love you Shane and can't wait for you to be home again (for 1 week anyway). You may have to click on the photo to make it bigger so you can read it.

"the Hut"

Shane: "hey Jared, what should we do tonight?"
Jared: "lets build a hut".
Mom: (thinking) "oh boy, this is going to be one big mess!"
Well...I was right, it turned out to be a giant mess, which made it the "greatest hut ever!"

Daddy....play with me!

Earlier today I heard loud screeching and giggling coming from upstairs. When I went to investigate I found Shane and Serenity playing (while Shane was supposed to be working). What a great dad! I don't know if Shane will ever be able to work from home again. Every time I turn around Serenity is running back up stairs to Shane's office yelling "Daddy, look...Daddy, look".

I wanna be like uncle Mark

I don't know if its proper blog etiquette to steal photos from other people's blogs, but this was too cute and it made me miss Sundays with the family and of course my sweet little nephew! I took this from my sister-in-law, Shaunna's blog.

Attack of the Axe-Man!

O.k....so we were supposed to have cub scouts at the park (next to our house) last night. We get there early and start setting things up, when a lady starts yelling at us, "hey you, cub scouts, you need to leave". I'm thinking, cub scouts aren't aloud at the park? Then she yells it again, "hey cub scouts you need to leave...it's not safe!" Then another group of teenagers starts yelling, "you need to get outta here, he's crazy". Shane and I both to turn to see a guy walking toward us carrying a huge axe (yes, the kind you would try to chop a tree down with). He IS crazy...and he's yelling all kinds of gang banger language...I had no idea what he was saying. He lifts the axe up above his head and starts swinging it and then yells, "I'm gonna get a gun, I'm gonna get a gun". By then we've started high tailing it to the other end of the park like everyone else! Then a police helicopter shows up. I think this scared him because then he went back to his car and drove off screeching down the street. The helicopter followed him and then police cars starting zooming past. It was quite the spectacle! All of this happening while our cub scouts are arriving. Things did calm down after a few minutes and we decided to go ahead with our den meeting. And by the way the Axe-Man was arrested (at the corner of Fox Ridge Dr. and Cherry Ave).
.
I think I'm ready to move back to Utah now!
.
Our cub scouts have been working on earning the U.S. Heritage Award. The last requirement was to do something to help your community, so we met at the park to do a little clean-up project by picking up litter around the park.
More Pictures are on our Cub Scout Blog. http://wolfdenpack641.blogspot.com/ (sorry...I didn't get a picture of the Axe-Man)
