October Update

Do you ever feel like you're so far behind that you'll never catch up? Well, that's how I feel about our blog right now.....Here's a little update.

Saturday afternoon at Treasure Cove. This is our favorite tide pool spot and its hidden most of the year except days the tide is super low. We always see something new. It was the first time we saw a live lobster and we saw 3 big jellyfish washed up on the shore.

The day after Serenity's birthday she lost her 1st tooth eating an apple. 10 minutes later she lost her 2nd tooth! A few weeks after that Jake got his first 2 teeth, so we told her the tooth fairy took her teeth and gave them to Jake.

Serenity's Birthday was on October 24th, she is 6 years old!

New Year's Eve - Crystal Cove

We spent New Year's Eve afternoon with the Christensen's at Crystal Cove. The Christensen's told us about a Ranger-guided tour of the tide pools. New Year's Day was the lowest tide of the year at -1.7. When we got to the cove we found out that the Ranger was taking us about a 1/2 mile farther up the coast, just north of Crystal Cove to Treasure Cove. Normally the Ranger tour is at Crystal Cove because Treasure Cove is inaccessible most of the year, but because the tide was so low, we were able to hike into Treasure Cove. The tide pools there were amazing! We saw sea hairs, sea anemones, fish, sea urchin, sea stars, an abalone shell, 5 octopus, dolphins and all the regular stuff like hermit crabs and seashells.
