Bike Riding and Geocaching in Claremont

Today Jared, Paris and I spent the "heat" of the afternoon on the Thompson Creek Trail in Claremont. (Shane is sick so he stayed home). It was a scorcher today, over 90 degrees! Which is crazy since the average temp for this time of year is 73 degrees. Not really the kind of day to be out bike riding, but since I have been home sick for the last two weeks I had to get out.
We rode two miles of the trail from Mills street to Towne Ave. Also doing a bit of Geocaching along the way. It is an awesome trail for Geocaching since there is a stash about every 1/4 of a mile. We searched for 8 caches, but only found 4. There is also a park halfway and drinking fountains every 1/4 to 1/2 a mile.
It was such a pretty ride and I'm the kind of girl who hikes to see beautiful places, not just to "feel the burn", that's why I like this trail so much. There are lots of trees and flowers.
Jared at the first cache of the day, just across from the parking lot.
On our way back I was trying to get Paris a drink from the "pet friendly" fountain and she scared out an Alligator Lizard from behind the fountain. It ran over to me and up my shoe. I thought it was going to run up my leg! I jumped and screamed and Jared came running to see the commotion. Jared scared the lizard up to the top of the fountain and I snapped a picture.

The rest of the ride was slightly UPHILL, HOT and SLOW. We started to "feel the burn". Jared kept saying things like, "this is too much exercise for one day" or "I bet this is more exercise than dad has ever done in one day!". Finally we made it back to the car.

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun. we enjoyed the warmer weather here to. We finished weeding the front flower bed and went to a bbq. Did you bike or walk with Paris?

Surprizingly Paris does very well riding along with us. I hold her lease and she runs along next to me. We have had some close encounters, but after 4 years she is pretty much a pro at it now.

I am getting anxious to see the work you and Zack have been doing on the garden and the flower beds. Have you planted any new flowers yet?

We haven't planted any flowers yet I think that we are going to plant around Mother's Day. I am going to get some ground cover that have little daisy looking flowers on them, and I don't know what else yet. We have started planning a vaction I think we are going to go to Zions. We are going to make it earlier though because I just checked my vacation and I am nearing the use it or lose it mark. Two months and I would quit earning vacation because I would have over 4 weeks. I think we are going to make a long weekend and go May 15-18 ish. A Thursday to Sunday or Monday. If we leave Thursday afternoon we won't miss any of our classes and coming home by Monday saves us from the same problem. It should be early enough that it will still be nice weather but we will miss the Memorial Day crowds which will be nice. But nothing is set in stone yet. All I know is that I don't want to lose any vacation time, so taking 2 or 3days will put me in an okay spot.
