The "Just Dance with the Sounds of Music" recital was last week. Jared's piano teacher and Serenity's dance teacher are sisters and every year they put together a joint recital. Last year Jared played a few pieces in the recital and I remember how adorable all the little dancers were, and truthfully it made me a little sad to think we might never have a little girl. Its ironic that just two months later we were blessed with Serenity. I can't believe that a year has gone by already! This time we had a piano player and a dancer in the recital. Jared played FOUR songs! He did a great job and we were sooooo proud of him! Serenity had three dances. Que Sera, the Lion Sleeps Tonight and Uptown Girls. It was great and we can't wait to do it all again next year.

You've Got Talent!
We live across the street from the Elementary school, so I let Jared walk home by himself. A few weeks ago he didn't come home after school. 10 minutes late... then 20 minutes late... then 30 minutes went by. I got pretty worried and went around the neighborhood to his friends' houses trying to find out where he was. No one had seen him. I walked over to his school and found out that he had stayed after to audition for the school talent show. Whew....was I relieved! Friday was the talent show. He did a great job! Play the video below to find out Jared's talent.

Las Brisas
Friday Shane and I went on a 6 hour date! He borrowed the "work" Mustang convertible and we drove out to Laguna Beach and had dinner at Las Brisas (a Mexican restaurant that overlooks the ocean). It was great!

Rock Climbing
Last weekend Shane took us rock climbing at Lake Perris. This is the wall, we climbed up a route on the far right, just on the right side of the climbers on the far right of the pic.

All the climbs along the front of the wall are lead climbs. This is Shane at the first bolt.

Shane has a 50 meter rope and a 60 meter rope, he decided to use the 60 meter. After he repelled back to the bottom I looked down at the rope and there was less than two feet left, Yikes!

This was Jared's first climb in his new harness. (no more full-body harness! He passed it on to his little sister. Ahhh, our little rock climber is growing up)

This was Serenity's first rock climbing trip. She did pretty good going up, coming down....that was a different story! (Jared took this pic, so the angle is a little bit exaggerated)

Our Little Garden
The kids and I needed a project to keep us busy so a few weeks ago we built a square foot garden and put it on the front porch. I let the kids pick a few fruits and veggies to plant and take care of. Serenity picked carrots and zucchini. Jared picked peas and watermelon. I picked a bell pepper and strawberries and we couldn't have a garden without tomatoes!

Today we finally had two ripe strawberries. Serenity picked the little one.

They were super juicy! Serenity ate it right away.

Jared picked the other, but he wouldn't eat it.

Ferdinand the Bull
Saturday I took the kids to see a play at the Lewis Family Playhouse. It was called, "Ferdinand the Bull". It was family day at the playhouse so there were all kinds of tents set up outside with activities for the kids. We had a great time. We stayed after the performance to get autographs and pictures with the cast. (pictures top to bottom: Ferdinand the Bull, the Matador, and Serenity's favorite, the pig.)Friday, April 17, 2009
